Oooof!

I really wanted to sleep in this morning; I sure could have used it! Stupid body clock doesn't have a reset button! Ammar was up early, too, and we decided to do a little walkabout in the quiet of Borjomi before breakfast. There was no one on the streets! The loudest noise was the rushing river, which we can hear from our room. Yesterday when Ammar was cruising the city he found an interesting building he wants to show me. It is quite cool and is being renovated. There is so much new building and building preservation going on all over the country, even large highway projects.
All the greenery on this side of the street is grapevines! |
At least the little store with espresso was open! |
Back into Paradise (our hotel) and downstairs for breakfast. There is a nice buffet and I guess everyone here kills their fried eggs and serves those hot dog-looking breakfast meats. But there are cheeses and vegetables and yogurt and what I think is French toast and hard-boiled eggs and cute little muffins with a treat inside. And there's a ravioli-looking thingie with cheese inside and what might be a little chicken nugget!
Pretty reception area |
Ammar spotted the eyeball! |
This is a restoration and adaptation into the Museum of the Cavalry building. It's being finance by the World Bank. |
We go back out to see if any of the tourist kiosks are open and do a little shopping. I find a couple of things and Ammar finds a hammock to put up on his roof and it's on sale! We go home, finish packing, and ask for a cab to the bus station. A marshuka for Tbilisi is almost full when we arrive, so we're in luck. I claim the only two unoccupied seats side by side and think we're golden. We're not. For whatever reason we can't sit there and wind up in the two very front seats by the driver. Ammar actually does better in the front seat but there's very little leg room and I work very hard at not knocking the gear shift lever with my knee! But it's only two hours to Tbilisi and it goes quickly. And you can't beat the price, twelve lari (about four dollars) per person!!

We arrive in Tbilisi, bhis isn't the same bus station we've seen before; whatever. We find a cab and soon are back at our comfy Art Opera Hotel. The girls recognize us and it's nice to know people! We drag upstairs and unpack and freshen. I work a little on my blog while Ammar runs errands and goes to the casino to see if he still has credit. He does and he texts me to meet him half way. I sit and have a glass of wine and check my mail while he justifies our free lunch (I still can't believe this works!!)
He has shrimp salad and a side of more shrimp (it's good to know what you like!) and I have their yummy chicken and pear salad with the blue-cheese balls coated in walnuts. I finish every smidgen and some of his salad, too, and my tummy is loving the vegetables. I finish up with a glass of Turkish tea and then go to try my hand, since I've got a little credit, too. And there's free bottled water.
We both finish up about the same time and go down town to the little street fair to see what there is to see. Again, just a little something; and Ammar buys me a surprise! A sweet little keychain with the letter M on it. (My quads are really angry about yesterday!) We stop into the mall to check out the grocery store for my wine bottle and I don't like any of the few they have. It's probably a good thing! And I can't find blue fenugreek; but I'll go home and google how to spell it in Georgian and may have better luck later. Anyway, I'm very happy to go home and put my feet up! I'm planning a shower and an early night!!
