An easy Day to recover from yesterday!

 Saturday, July 30, 2022

Sleeping in is grand, even if it only means 6:30.  But I don't have to get up just because I'm awake!! But  Beqa comes forty-five minutes early, which we weren't quite prepared for, but that's okay!  When he leaves we think about whether we're hungry yet.  I think I might be and while I'm blogging Ammar goes out and brings me back one of the square katchapuris and makes me a cup of tea.  I'm so spoiled!

Our scary elevator door!  And it makes noises like in a horror movie!

Every lake has to have swan boats, right?

Support for Ukraine is still strong!

We remember that there were great massages at the Wyndham on Europe Square and so we walk down there.  It's about two miles, so another virtuous day! Along the way Ammar teaches me about the recent history in the Middle East.  It is more convoluted and confusing than I even thought!

We go upstairs and make appointments for tomorrow at noon and go down to the Radisson to see if Ammar's Turkish buddy in the casino there remembers him.  He does and gives him a line of credit to start him off.  We spend a few hours and enjoy espresso, latte, chocolate squares, mixed nuts, and water, and never spend a dime!  Plus Ammar wins three hundred lari which is about a hundred bucks!  Woohoo!  Tonight's dinner is free, even the cabfare!

There's a little craft market across the street and I go looking for a shirt that says something about Ukraine in Georgian for a friend at church.  And if I find one, I'll get one for me, to!  But all I see is a shirt that says Fuck Putin in clear and easy-to-read English!  That's a bit much.  There is also a group of little ones who have learned a dance/exercise routine, and they are performing in the park.  So cute!!

(Stupid Blogger stuck the little video at the bottom of the post!)

Cool shelf fungus!

We've managed to work off our casino treats and are ready for dinner at Fishlandia.  We find a cab but the driver doesn't speak English.  He gets my fish face, though, and takes us right to the fish market where we get a half kilo of shrimp and two denis (I don't know what kind of fish that is!?). We've had them before and they're tasty!  We take them to the kitchen for Fishlandia, put our dinner on tray number eight, and go across the road to find a table on the water.  We order Georgian salad with walnuts, ddry, red wine for me and lemonade with tarragon for Ammar and enjoy the evening while we await our feast, which is scrumptious!

sparkling lemonade with tarragon!

So delicious!

And so demolished!

Tummies filled, we get a cab, practice saying the name of our street (Sherif Khimsharashvili) and stop into the little store downstairs for some supplies.  Upstairs to relax, spend some quality time in the jacuzzi that occupies most of the bathroom, blog and head for bed.  A very satisfying day!

Grab shots from the moving cab in the dark!!
